Former Tanzania Minister of Home Affairs and Member of Parliament for Kibakwe Constituency, George Boniface Simbachawene, has publicly welcomed President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s decision to revoke his ministerial appointment, describing the move as constitutional and necessary for strengthening government performance.

Speaking to residents of Pwaga Ward in Kibakwe shortly after returning to his constituency, Simbachawene said he received the decision with gratitude and humility, emphasizing that leadership changes are part of democratic governance and institutional accountability.

“The President has full constitutional authority to appoint and remove leaders as she deems fit in the interest of national development,” he said. “These decisions are meant to improve service delivery and ensure the government remains strong, responsive, and focused on the needs of citizens.”

Simbachawene had served as Minister of Home Affairs, a key portfolio overseeing internal security, immigration, and law enforcement under the Sixth Phase Government. The ministry plays a central role in maintaining national stability through institutions such as the police force, prisons service, and border control systems under the Ministry of Home Affairs Tanzania.

His removal came as part of a broader cabinet reshuffle aimed at enhancing efficiency within the government — a move analysts say reflects President Samia’s leadership style of performance-based accountability.

Addressing wananchi during his visit, Simbachawene made it clear that his commitment to public service remains unchanged.

“I remain a loyal servant of the nation and a strong supporter of President Samia in all development efforts,” he said. “Leadership is not about positions but about serving people with integrity, responsibility, and dedication.”

He added that his focus will now shift fully to strengthening development initiatives within Kibakwe Constituency, including education, healthcare, water access, and infrastructure projects currently underway.

Local residents welcomed his return, expressing hope that his experience at the national level would help attract more government support and resources to the area. Several community leaders praised his continued presence on the ground, saying it demonstrates accountability and closeness to voters.

Political observers note that Simbachawene’s calm and respectful response stands in contrast to the confrontational reactions often seen after high-level dismissals in African politics.

“By accepting the decision gracefully and reaffirming loyalty, he is signaling political maturity and stability within the ruling system,” said a Dodoma-based political analyst.

Since taking office, President Samia has reshuffled key government positions several times, citing the need for efficiency, discipline, and faster delivery of development goals. Her leadership approach has generally been viewed as reform-oriented, with a strong emphasis on professionalism in public service.

As Tanzania continues implementing large-scale infrastructure projects and economic reforms, such cabinet changes are expected to remain a feature of governance.

For Simbachawene, the message to his supporters was simple: his removal from the cabinet does not mark the end of his service, but a new chapter of closer engagement with the people who elected him.

“I am still your MP,” he told the crowd. “And I will continue working tirelessly to improve lives here in Kibakwe and across Tanzania.”
