Following his omission from the newly reshuffled Cabinet of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Innocent Bashungwa, Member of Parliament for Karagwe, has publicly expressed gratitude for the rare opportunity to serve the nation over the years.
In a heartfelt message posted on social media, Bashungwa reflected on his tenure in government and pledged his continued support for the President’s vision and leadership under the sixth administration. “I would like to thank the President and Commander-in-Chief, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for the exceptional opportunity you gave me to serve Tanzanians in various capacities. I promise to continue supporting your good leadership and the government you lead,” he wrote.
He also took time to appreciate the people of Karagwe for their trust and cooperation during his service, noting that stepping away from ministerial duties allows him more time to focus on local development. Bashungwa emphasized his commitment to ensuring that ongoing projects in his constituency continue to progress efficiently.
During his political career under President Samia’s leadership, Bashungwa has held multiple key ministerial roles, including Minister of Home Affairs (2024–25), Minister of Works (2023–24), Minister of Defence (2022–23), and Minister of Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI) in 2022. His wide-ranging experience across several ministries has earned him recognition as a seasoned and versatile public servant.

Political analysts note that Bashungwa’s measured response — publicly thanking the President and reaffirming loyalty to both the government and his constituents — demonstrates a high degree of political maturity and could enhance his prospects for future leadership positions.
For now, Bashungwa returns to his primary role as a Member of Parliament, where he says he will intensify efforts to bring tangible improvements to Karagwe. “This is an opportunity to focus more closely on the needs of my constituents,” he said, “and to ensure that development projects continue to move forward at a faster pace.”
His response has been widely regarded as a model of humility and dedication, highlighting the importance of service beyond ministerial positions and reinforcing a message of unity and commitment to national development.
