A devastating road accident in Gajal, Babati, Manyara Region claimed the lives of four individuals, including three students and a truck driver.
The collision involved a coaster bus transporting 33 students and a Scania truck, resulting in a tragic loss of life and severe injuries.
The coaster, which was carrying students from Endasaki Secondary School in Hanang, was on its way to Arusha for a holiday break following the conclusion of the school term. The collision occurred when the coaster and the Scania truck collided head-on, with the truck reportedly veering into the path of the bus.
Ahmed Makarani, the Regional Police Commander for Manyara, stated that preliminary investigations suggest the accident was caused by the truck driver’s failure to maintain proper road discipline. The truck’s impact with the coaster was catastrophic, causing immediate fatalities and significant injuries among the passengers.
Emergency services were swiftly dispatched to the scene, but the severity of the crash made rescue operations complex and challenging. The wreckage was extensive, and first responders faced difficulties in extracting the injured and deceased from the mangled vehicles.
