Retail prices for petrol and diesel have risen in regions sourcing these fuels from the ports of Dar es Salaam, Tanga, and Mtwara, compared to July.
The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) has released a statement indicating the new fuel prices effective from Wednesday, August 7, 2024. According to EWURA, petrol prices have increased by TSh 21 per liter in Dar es Salaam, bringing the new price to TSh 3,231 per liter.
Similarly, petrol sourced from the Port of Tanga has seen a price rise, from TSh 3,210 per liter in July to TSh 3,229 per liter in August. In Mtwara, the price has climbed to TSh 3,304 per liter from TSh 3,212 in July.

For diesel, EWURA’s report states that the price for diesel received at the Port of Dar es Salaam has risen from TSh 3,115 per liter in July to TSh 3,131 per liter in August. Diesel prices in Tanga have increased from TSh 3,124 per liter in July to TSh 3,138 per liter in August. Similarly, diesel prices in Mtwara have increased from TSh 3,124 per liter in July to TSh 3,140 per liter in August.
These adjustments reflect changes in the international oil market and logistical factors affecting fuel importation and distribution within the country. Consumers are advised to take note of the new prices as they plan their fuel purchases for the month.
