On the evening of July 28, 2024, a tragic road accident occurred in Serengeti National Park, leading to the death of one Chinese tourist and injuring six others.
The accident involved a tourist vehicle registered T603 DCL, operated by Yonda Africa Company. According to the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), the accident took place around 10 p.m. when the vehicle was returning to its hotel from Lobo Wildlife Lodge, located just one kilometer away.
The vehicle was carrying seven tourists of Chinese nationality and a Tanzanian driver. The deceased’s body has been transported to Mugumu Hospital, while the injured tourists are receiving treatment at the same facility. The condition of the injured has been described as stable, but further details on their injuries have not been released.
TANAPA has initiated an investigation into the accident, collaborating with other relevant authorities to determine its cause. Early inquiries will focus on factors such as road conditions, vehicle maintenance, and driver performance to understand what led to this unfortunate incident.
