Artist Wastara Seeks Justice from President Samia

Tanzanian film Wastara Juma,  has publicly appealed to President Samia Suluhu Hassan, seeking assistance in securing her rights. In her emotional statement, Wastara outlined her challenges and expressed hope that the President’s intervention might resolve her ongoing issues.

Wastara, known for her roles in popular Swahili films, revealed that she has been facing significant challenges that have impacted both her professional and personal life. Despite numerous attempts to resolve these issues through conventional means, she has found herself at an impasse, prompting her to seek help from the highest office.

“I have tried everything within my power to obtain justice, but it has been like climbing a mountain,” Wastara said. “I believe in President Samia’s commitment to justice and fairness.

I appeal for her assistance to ensure my rights are protected.” The artist highlighted that her complaint involves a Chinese telecommunications company with which she had a two-year contract. However, the company left Tanzania, leaving her with an unpaid contract.

She is requesting President Samia’s intervention through the Tanzanian Ambassador to China to negotiate with the company for her payment. She emphasized that her claims have significantly affected her life. Her appeal comes at a time when President Samia has been praised for her efforts to address various social and legal issues in Tanzania.

President Samia, known for her proactive stance on social issues, has yet to publicly respond to Wastara’s request. However, there is hope that her administration will take the necessary steps to address the matter. The President has previously demonstrated her commitment to assisting Tanzanian citizens in various sectors, including arts and culture. For now, Wastara remains hopeful.

“I am hopeful that with the President’s assistance, I can finally receive the justice I deserve,” she said. Her courageous appeal is a testament to her perseverance and determination to seek justice, not only for herself but also for others who may find themselves in similar situations.
