Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has delivered some remarks at the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Moscow.
Sergey Lavrov addressed a range of pressing geopolitical issues affecting the BRICS nations – Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
In his speech, Lavrov strongly criticized the “unilateral coercive measures” imposed by Western nations on Russia, condemning them as a direct threat to the global economic system. He called upon the BRICS countries to strengthen their economic and trade ties as a countermeasure to these sanctions.

Emphasizing the importance of unity and cooperation among BRICS members in addressing global challenges, Lavrov highlighted the necessity for the group to play a more influential role in shaping the international order. He proposed enhancing political, security, and cultural collaboration among the BRICS nations.
Furthermore, Lavrov discussed the need for reform within international institutions such as the UN Security Council, pointing out that the current structure no longer reflects the realities of the 21st century. He urged collective action from BRICS nations to advocate for necessary reforms on the global stage.
The two-day meeting chaired by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is attended by representatives of countries – friends of BRICS.

The BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting occurs amidst escalating geopolitical tensions, with the Ukraine conflict remaining a focal point on the global stage. Lavrov’s speech highlights Russia’s endeavors to enhance relations with key emerging economies amid Western isolation.
