Ten Tanzanian students who performed exceptionally well in the PCM, PGM and PMC combinations have secured scholarships to pursue higher education at RUDN University in Moscow, Russia, under the Samia Scholarship Extended programme.
The scholarship opportunity follows President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s official visit to Russia in June 2026, which helped strengthen education cooperation between Tanzania and Russia.
The students, ranked from positions 51 to 60 in the selection process, will first attend a preparatory training camp in Russia before beginning their university studies.
During the training period, the Russian government will cover 80 percent of the costs, while the Tanzanian government will contribute the remaining 20 percent. Once the students begin their university studies in September 2027, the Russian government will assume full responsibility for the scholarship costs.

Eight of the selected students come from government schools, while two are from private schools.
Speaking about the opportunity, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Professor Adolf Mkenda urged the beneficiaries to make the most of the scholarship and maintain strong academic performance.
Prof. Mkenda said their success would not only benefit them individually but could also help create opportunities for more Tanzanian students to access scholarships abroad.
The scholarship programme is part of Tanzania’s efforts to expand international educational partnerships and increase opportunities for students to pursue studies in specialised fields at leading institutions overseas.
The beneficiaries are expected to represent Tanzania well during their studies and contribute their knowledge and skills to the country after completing their education.
