Zanzibar,Romania Strengthens Development and Economic Ties

President Mwinyi made these remarks when he met with the Romanian Ambassador to Tanzania, H.E. Gentiana Serbu, who visited Zanzibar's State House for a meeting.

The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has stated that Zanzibar will continue to strengthen cooperation with Romania in various sectors of development and economy.

President Mwinyi made these remarks when he met with the Romanian Ambassador to Tanzania, H.E. Gentiana Serbu, who visited Zanzibar’s State House for a meeting.

Dr. Mwinyi informed Ambassador Gentiana that there are many areas where they can collaborate, including education, health, oil and gas, disaster management, technical waste management, and information and communication technology.

Regarding environmental issues, Dr. Mwinyi noted that Zanzibar is facing a major problem with plastic waste, which threatens marine life and the tourism sector. He urged Romania to consider this issue.

Additionally, Dr. Mwinyi invited Romanian universities to visit Zanzibar to explore areas of cooperation with the University of Zanzibar (SUZA).

He also used the opportunity to invite Romanian investors and businesses to explore investment opportunities in the country.

Ambassador Gentiana Serbu assured Zanzibar that Romania will continue to cooperate and provide aid in various sectors to promote the development and well-being of the people.

Ambassador Gentiana mentioned that Romania’s focus in cooperation with Zanzibar includes disaster management, education, health, communication technology, investment, and industrial development.
