The workers of the Kibena Tea Factory located in Njombe District, who had been on strike for 5 days, have returned to work immediately after the Regional Commissioner of Njombe Hon. Anthony Mtaka to visit the Tea factory managed by the DL Group Company on July 5, 2024 where Hon. Mtaka asked the company to start paying their salaries more than 200 million and the salaries started paying at the same time.
The Director of DL Group Tanzania Companies, Jamerson Moturi said that it is true that the workers have not been paid their salaries for a period of four months and he promised in front of all the Leaders who attended the Regional Governor’s Meeting that by the end of August he will have completed all the salary arrears of the workers those.
“Today, July 5, we pay one salary which is 200.1 million shillings and next week on July 11 we pay another two-month salary of 400 million shillings and on August 8th we will pay another salary and complete it,” said Moturi.
In addition, the Regional Commissioner of Njombe Hon. Anthony Mtaka said the issue of non-payment of wages to the workers is humiliating because salary is an income that helps them to do their activities.

The workers of the factory said they are grateful to the government for intervening in the matter and now they are ready to go to work because they are sure to be paid their salaries.
