Two people lost their lives, and two others were severely injured after a waste collection vehicle, an Isuzu Tipper with registration number T 882 DQJ, veered off the road and struck traders who had set up their goods along the Morogoro – Dodoma highway in the Kihonda Maghorofani area of Morogoro Municipality.

According to a statement from Morogoro Regional Police Commander Alex Mkama, the driver lost control of the vehicle after the braking system failed, which also caused it to collide with a Bajaj with registration number MC 445 DRG. The driver has since disappeared, and the police are actively searching for him.

Commander Mkama has urged the public, especially small traders, to refrain from setting up their goods along the road to avoid such accidents. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the brake failure of the waste collection vehicle was the cause of this tragic accident.
