December 1, 2025

The Tanzania Meteorological Authority has issued a fresh 24-hour weather outlook indicating that most parts of the country will experience partly cloudy conditions accompanied by sunny intervals as the week begins.

The forecast, released on the night of December 1, covers all regions, including the islands of Zanzibar and Pemba.

According to the update, coastal areas such as Dar es Salaam, Pwani, Tanga and Mafia Island are expected to remain mostly warm with light cloud cover throughout the day. Similar weather patterns are projected across the northern tourism circuit—Arusha, Manyara and Kilimanjaro—where temperatures will range between cool mornings and warm afternoons.

The Lake Zone, covering Mwanza, Geita, Shinyanga, Simiyu and Mara, is forecast to experience partly sunny conditions, while the western regions of Kigoma, Tabora and Katavi will see a mix of sunshine and mild cloud cover. Southern regions including Ruvuma, Mtwara and Lindi are also expected to maintain stable conditions.

Temperature readings across major towns show significant heat in the central and coastal belt. Dar es Salaam is expected to peak at 34°C, Dodoma at 33°C and Tabora at 33°C. Cooler weather is expected in the southern highlands, with Njombe recording a minimum of 11°C and Mbeya 14°C. Sunrise and sunset times differ slightly across regions, with most areas seeing sunrise just after 6 a.m. and sunset shortly after 6:30 p.m.

Along the coastline, winds are projected to blow from the northeast at speeds of about 30 km/h, maintaining moderate sea conditions throughout the day. Marine operators, fishermen and coastal travellers have been advised to adhere to safety guidelines but no major disruptions are anticipated.

TMA’s extended outlook for December 3 suggests slight atmospheric changes, though nothing significant enough to affect normal activities. The authority continues to monitor evolving conditions from its national observation centres and will issue updates as needed.
