The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the principles, goals, and values of the United Nations while actively participating in global peacekeeping efforts.

This statement was made by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Cosato Chumi, during a press conference held on October 23, 2024, at the Ministry’s Dar Es Salaam office. The briefing focused on the upcoming United Nations Day celebrations, scheduled for October 24, 2024, at the United Nations Office grounds in Dar es Salaam.

This year’s theme for the celebrations is “Prosperity for Future Generations: Promoting Sustainable Economic Growth in Tanzania.” This theme reflects the collaborative efforts between Tanzania and the United Nations, emphasizing sustainable development that benefits not only the current generation but also those to come.

Hon. Chumi highlighted Tanzania’s recognition of the significant role and contribution of this international organization, urging everyone to continue supporting its mission to maintain global peace and security, promote joint development efforts, protect human rights, and provide essential humanitarian assistance. Additionally, he emphasized the need to tackle various challenges that the world faces collaboratively.

The day serves as a reminder of the organization’s ongoing mission to foster international cooperation and promote sustainable development worldwide.
