The Office of the President, Regional Administration, and Local Government (TAMISEMI) has conducted a budget review focusing on regional structures and living costs to ensure that funds allocated for construction projects are sufficient to complete essential infrastructure.
From the 2024/25 budget onward, classrooms will cost between Sh. 22 million and 25 million, while the construction of health centers will cost between Sh. 284 million and 358 million.
Deputy Minister of TAMISEMI, Hon. Zainab Katimba, made this announcement while presenting the annual report on the implementation of the Local Authorities Accounts Committee (LAAC) tasks to Parliament.

She explained that this adjustment came after the government identified significant cost disparities in construction materials across different regions, which had been hindering the implementation of critical projects such as schools, health centers, and administrative buildings.
“We have made budget improvements to ensure that projects are completed to the correct standards. Starting from the 2024/2025 budget, classrooms will cost between Sh. 22 million and 25 million, while health centers will cost between Sh. 284 million and 358 million,” said Hon. Katimba.
Earlier, the Chairperson of the LAAC Committee, Hon. Halima Mdee, emphasized that from the 2025/2026 financial year, all public institutions providing services at the local government level must collaborate in preparing essential infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and water before starting any construction projects.
