Simba Sports Club has extended a message of appreciation to its fans through its official social media platforms, expressing gratitude for the support shown during the 2024/25 season.
“To all Wanasimba, thank you for the support you’ve given us this season. We are proud to have fans like you,”
read part of the message shared by the club on Tuesday.
However, the timing of the statement has raised eyebrows, as it coincides with the day Simba was scheduled to face archrivals Yanga SC in the much-anticipated Kariakoo Derby—one of the biggest fixtures in Tanzanian football.
The situation has created confusion among football fans and stakeholders across the country. Uncertainty began building on Monday when Simba SC failed to send representatives to the official pre-match press conference organized by the Tanzania Premier League Board.
The absence of Simba at the mandatory media briefing has fueled speculation about whether the team will appear for the derby match as expected.
As of this morning, the club has not issued an official statement confirming or denying its participation in the game, leaving supporters and officials anxiously waiting for clarity.
