A devastating accident in Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Region has left seven people dead and 23 others injured after a vehicle carrying choir members lost control and overturned in the Pare Mountains.
The tragedy occurred on Sunday morning, March 30, 2025, in Same District, as the group was traveling from Chome to Vudee.
According to Same District Commissioner Kasilda Mgeni, the accident happened at around 10:00 AM. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle, which was navigating the mountainous terrain, suddenly veered off course before overturning. Six of the deceased were choir members, and all those injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly to assist the victims, while local authorities launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Initial reports suggest that road conditions and the steep, winding nature of the Pare Mountains could have contributed to the tragedy.

“This is a great loss for our community. These choir members were not just singers; they were part of our spiritual lives,” said a local resident.
Authorities have urged drivers to exercise extreme caution, particularly on the region’s challenging roads. The tragedy has also reignited concerns about road safety in mountainous areas, with calls for better infrastructure and stricter regulations to prevent similar incidents.
