President Samia Suluhu Hassan has underscored the imperative for accountability and the observance of leadership protocols among regional and district authorities, warning against the abuse of power.
During the reception of the Implementation Strategy Committee Report on the recommendations of the Commission of Human Rights, President Samia Suluhu Hassan voiced concerns over the misuse of authority by certain regional and district leaders, emphasizing the significance of ethical leadership and respecting boundaries.
“I understand that every change faces opposition and fear, sometimes it’s just the fear of change. But I believe we should overcome our fears and embrace change because Tanzania is growing economically, politically, and socially. And when we are growing towards the desired growth and comfortability, they cannot coexist,” said President Samia Suluhu.
The President urged relevant institutions involved in criminal justice to undergo a paradigm shift to facilitate the positive implementation of the recommendations made by the Commission of Human Rights.

She stressed the importance of upholding citizens’ rights as enshrined in the Tanzanian Constitution.
“We all need to stand for justice, and there’s no substitute for justice, which is why we are taking these steps,” Samia remarked.
These statements were made during the ceremony to receive the report of the committee tasked with formulating the implementation strategy for the recommendations of the Commission of Human Rights. The event took place today, June 15, 2024, at Chamwino State House in Dodoma.
