Presidential candidate Samia Suluhu Hassan addressed thousands of supporters in Butiama on Friday, October 10, 2025, highlighting the government’s progress in implementing the visionary plans of Tanzania’s founding father, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere.
Speaking at Mwenge Grounds, she stressed how the administration has turned historical ideals into tangible development projects that benefit communities across the nation.
Dkt. Samia pointed to the successful relocation of Tanzania’s administrative capital to Dodoma, noting that all key government institutions have now moved to the city, a step she described as critical for effective governance and national cohesion.
She further highlighted landmark infrastructure initiatives, including the Mwalimu Nyerere Hydropower Project in Pwani, a major electricity generation effort, and the Same-Mwanga-Korogwe water project, which has significantly improved access to clean water for residents.
“Mkomazi Dam in Korogwe has reached 50 percent completion, and the Kidunda Dam is helping supply water to Dar es Salaam, Pwani, and parts of Morogoro,” Dkt. Samia explained. “These projects reflect Nyerere’s vision of good governance, community development, and economic empowerment, and we are committed to continuing this work for all Tanzanians.”
