Retired Major General Charles Mbuge Passes Away in India

Retired Major General Charles Mbuge has passed away today, October 12, 2024, in the early morning hours in India, where he was receiving medical treatment. His death was confirmed by a family member.

Major General Mbuge had a distinguished career in the military, serving for over 38 years. On August 2, 2024, he was officially retired from the army in a ceremony that included a formal inspection of a military parade at the Mgulani Grounds (Twalipo Administration Unit) in Dar es Salaam. This ceremony marked the end of an illustrious career dedicated to serving his country.

Throughout his service, Mbuge held various leadership positions within the Tanzanian military and government. He served as the Commander of the National Service (JKT), where he was responsible for training and developing young citizens to contribute to national development. Additionally, he served as the Regional Commissioner for Kagera, where he oversaw administrative functions and implementation of government policies in the region.

Mbuge also made significant contributions as the Director of the Disaster Management Department in the Office of the Prime Minister. In this role, he was instrumental in formulating policies and coordinating responses to natural disasters and emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens.
