South African billionaire and President of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe, is embroiled in a high-profile lawsuit in Tanzania.

The legal action, scheduled for hearing in Dar Es Salaam’s High Court Commercial Division, accuses Motsepe’s mining conglomerate, African Rainbow Minerals (ARM), of breaching a 2019 agreement with Pula Graphite Partners.

According to Pula, ARM allegedly violated non-disclosure and non-compete clauses by investing in competing graphite projects. The case could carry significant financial consequences, with Pula seeking millions in damages.

The legal dispute brings Motsepe, who also owns South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns FC, into unfamiliar territory outside his usual business and sports spheres.

ARM has yet to respond publicly to the claims, but the proceedings are anticipated to draw considerable attention given Motsepe’s prominence in both African business and sports sectors.
