Arusha Regional Commissioner Paul Makonda, popularly known on social media as @baba_keagan, has issued a strong warning to local government leaders, urging them to protect business owners from any form of harassment or mistreatment.
In a stern address, Makonda emphasized that under no circumstances should any businessperson in the region be unfairly targeted or oppressed by authorities.
Speaking during a meeting with government officials, Makonda highlighted the importance of fairness, integrity, and adherence to the law when dealing with the business community. Makonda pointed out that the government, under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s sixth administration, is committed to fostering a conducive environment for business growth and development. He explained that businesspeople are vital to the economy, and as such, they should be allowed to operate freely and peacefully, without fear of harassment or undue pressure from government authorities.
“The goal of the sixth administration is to ensure that every businessperson in this region operates with freedom, peace, and within the framework of the law,” Makonda stated. He urged officials to prioritize the creation of a favorable business climate, emphasizing that this is essential for regional development and economic growth. According to Makonda, a fair and transparent business environment will encourage investment and improve livelihoods for the people of Arusha.
In his remarks, Makonda called on government leaders to adopt ethical leadership practices and uphold the principles of justice when interacting with the business community. He stressed that the government will not tolerate any form of abuse against entrepreneurs, as they play a crucial role in driving the region’s economic success.
