 Kilimanjaro Police Arrest Man Accused of Killing Father-in-Law

The Kilimanjaro Regional Police are holding Deogratius Mbuya, a resident of Legho Kirima in Moshi District, for allegedly killing his father-in-law, Tibrus Mneney, and injuring his mother-in-law, Beritha Mneney, in an incident that occurred on November 13, 2024.

Kilimanjaro Regional Police Commander Simon Maigwa told reporters that the incident stemmed from a family reconciliation meeting, organized to mediate a marital dispute between Mbuya and his wife. During the meeting, Mbuya reportedly accused his wife of infidelity, particularly after he had recently undergone surgery for health reasons.

According to Commander Maigwa, when the reconciliation failed, Mbuya became violent, injuring his mother-in-law by stabbing her left arm with a sharp object. As his father-in-law attempted to intervene to protect his wife, Mbuya allegedly attacked him, inflicting fatal wounds to his head, neck, and arm, leading to significant blood loss and ultimately his death.

The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
