The Minister of Land, Housing, and Human Settlements Development, Jerry Silaa, has revealed that his ministry is in the final stages of presenting a new law on property ownership to Parliament.
This initiative is aimed at implementing directives from the President of Tanzania, Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to enhance housing services and tackle land ownership challenges in the nation.

Various obstacles linked to land and property investments have led to bureaucratic complexities in housing management, causing inconveniences for individuals involved in construction or dealing with fraudulent land ownership.
In response to these issues, Minister Silaa has directed ministry officials to expedite the process of introducing the new property ownership law to Parliament. The primary goal of this law is to eliminate existing bureaucracy and enhance housing services for the citizens.
During the launch of the Sky Royal housing project sales in the Kinondoni area of Dar Es Salaam, Minister Silaa underscored the significance of having a strong law regulating property ownership. This law is expected to create a more favorable investment environment, improve the efficiency of land ownership management, and mitigate issues related to land fraud.
Through the presentation of this new law to Parliament, the Ministry of Land aims to instigate significant reforms in Tanzania’s housing sector. The law will simplify land acquisition and ownership processes, ensuring accessibility, fairness, and security for all citizens. Furthermore, it will fortify the land ownership management system, oversee construction permits, and uphold quality standards for housing projects.
