The family of the late Ali Mohammed Kibao, a former official of the Tanzanian opposition party CHADEMA, is urging President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to intervene in their pursuit of justice.
Kibao, who was abducted while traveling on a bus, was found dead shortly after being forcibly removed from the vehicle. His family has now made a heartfelt appeal for an open and transparent investigation into his death, along with a clear public statement that would offer them solace and address the growing fears they hold.
In a video posted on the social platform X, Kibao’s son, Mohammed Ali Kibao, spoke on behalf of his siblings and their mother, expressing the family’s increasing frustration and distress over the lack of clarity surrounding the case. Mohammed shared that, as a family, they initially chose patience, believing the authorities would diligently conduct their investigation. However, the prolonged silence from law enforcement agencies has deepened their worry and raised questions about the commitment to delivering justice.
The sequence of events, according to reports, began on September 6, 2024, when Ali Kibao was abducted. His body was discovered the following day, on September 7, prompting an outpouring of public sympathy and concern about the implications of his sudden death. Kibao was well-regarded in his role as a CHADEMA official, where he served in the party’s Secretariat, advocating for democracy and human rights.
