Tanzania’s Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Adolf Mkenda, has commended CRDB Bank and the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) for launching a partnership aimed at empowering young innovators across the country.
Speaking during the official signing ceremony, Prof. Mkenda described the collaboration as a significant step in promoting the growth of a creative economy. He emphasized that the initiative demonstrates the government’s strong commitment to investing in the potential of the youth and developing a competitive, industrial, and innovation-driven economy.
“This partnership addresses the persistent challenge of inadequate funding for young innovators,” Mkenda noted. “It is a commendable effort that supports the government’s goal to build an innovation-based industrial economy.”

CRDB Bank Foundation’s Executive Director, Tully Esther Mwambapa, stated that the agreement is a continuation of the bank’s mission to build an inclusive economy. Through the IMBEJU Program, more than 1,000 youth are expected to receive both startup capital and financial literacy training to help formalize and grow their businesses.
COSTECH Director General, Dr. Amos Nungu, said the commission remains committed to creating an enabling environment for innovation. He stressed that partnerships like this will enhance the capacity of young Tanzanian innovators to thrive both commercially and technologically.
Under the agreement, a joint committee will be established to oversee implementation, ensure transparency in the distribution of education and capital, and track the success of the beneficiaries.
