Dr. Tulia and President Putin Discuss Ways to Enhance Global Peace

The President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, Dr. Tulia Ackson, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, Russia, on July 12, 2024. During their discussions, they focused on effective ways to enhance global peace.

Regarding the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Dr. Tulia stated, “Before our meeting, we had already spoken with the Speakers of the parliaments of both countries. As the Inter-Parliamentary Union, we have approached this issue with the aim of bringing both nations together. We hope that the IPU will create opportunities for the parliaments of both sides to discuss peace within their regions.”
