A total of 11 neurologists from China have arrived in Tanzania, ready to provide one-year services at the Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute (MOI) in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday, Dr. Lemeri Mchome, a specialist surgeon at MOI, emphasized that the arrival of these doctors presents a valuable opportunity for local specialists to learn from their Chinese counterparts.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the longstanding cooperation between Tanzania and China.
“Our Chinese colleagues have made significant progress in bone, brain, and nerve treatments… I believe that by the time they leave, we will have greatly improved our competence,” said Dr. Mchome.
In addition to MOI, these specialists will also provide their services at the Muhimbili National Hospital, the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI), and the Mbeya Referral Hospital.
