CCM Marks 48th Anniversary, Reveals Election Slate

For Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Mwinyi will represent CCM, and Dr. Emanuel Nchimbi will join President Samia as her running mate for the Mainland.

Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), Tanzania’s long-standing ruling party, gathered for its 48th anniversary today at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma, celebrating decades of political presence in the country.

The event drew thousands of party members and leaders, all joining President Samia Suluhu Hassan in marking this milestone.

Among the notable guests were Zanzibar’s President and CCM Vice Chairperson for Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Mwinyi; Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango; Dr. Emanuel Nchimbi, announced as the running mate for the Mainland presidency; former President Jakaya Kikwete; and CCM Vice Chairperson for Mainland, Stephen Wasira.

The day was filled with energy, featuring vibrant performances from various artists that added to the celebratory mood. A key highlight of the event was CCM’s unveiling of its candidates for the upcoming elections, with President Samia Suluhu Hassan named as the party’s candidate for the Mainland presidency. For Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Mwinyi will represent CCM, and Dr. Emanuel Nchimbi will join President Samia as her running mate for the Mainland.

There was a clear sense of optimism as CCM prepares for the 2025 elections, with many believing that the unity displayed during the event will serve as a strong foundation for the party’s campaign.
