On December 31st, CCCC Tanzania Branch officially released “The Belt and Road Initiative & ESG Sustainable Development Report for the China Communications Construction Company Ltd, Tanzania Branch”
(hereinafter referred to as “Sustainable Development Report”) and “Comparison Between Chinese And European Standards In Design And Construction Of Steel Structures In Tanzania” (hereinafter referred to as “Study Report”). The Sustainable Development Report is the first Sustainable development report issued by CCCC since it entered the Tanzania market, marking our company commitment and unremitting efforts to green, harmonious and long-term development.
In addition, the Study Report, as a pioneering first case, further highlights the branch’s leading exploration in the field of technological innovation and international cooperation.
At the same time, given that China is gradually taking the lead in Tanzania’s infrastructure and construction industry, and British standards are the benchmark for the design, testing and implementation of building materials, systems and processes, a comprehensive comparison of the two standards is essential to understand their similarities and differences and potential areas of coordination and cooperation.
The branch, together with relevant scholars from DIT, who now work in EXTRA VISIOTEK COMPANY, conducted an in-depth study on the differences between Chinese standards (GB) and British standards (BS) in structural specifications, regulatory frameworks, design principles and construction methods based on the Dar es Salaam BRT Project.
The study conclusions show that the structure designed in accordance with the Chinese standard (GB) guidelines has sufficient capacity to withstand the applied loads and meet its expected functional requirements. In both serviceability and limit states, the structure exhibits acceptable performance characteristics, thus meeting the locally recognized standards.
This study has accumulated valuable experience for the implementation of future projects of CCCC Tanzania branch.

The branch will further explore the integration path of Chinese and British standards and deepen cooperation in the field of Tanzanian construction industry standards.
This cooperation will not only effectively improve the technical level and sustainability of the project, but also provide more practical experience and innovative ideas for international engineering cooperation under the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative, and help global infrastructure construction move to a higher level.
Looking ahead, CCCC Tanzania branch will continue to practice ESG principles, deepen localization construction, promote the global promotion of Chinese standards through technological innovation and experience sharing, absorb international advanced experience, create more demonstration projects, and make greater contributions to Tanzania’s economic and social development.
At the same time, we will actively fulfill our social responsibilities, pay attention to people’s livelihood and well-being, and bring tangible benefits to the Tanzanian people. We look forward to working together to build the “Belt and Road” into a road of happiness and friendship that promotes common development and enhances the close relationship between the Chinese and Tanzanian peoples.
