African governments, investors and the private sector have been urged to shift from ambitious infrastructure plans to delivering bankable projects that can accelerate the continent’s economic transformation.
Speaking at the opening of the Africa50 General Shareholders Meeting and the Infra for Africa Forum in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, Tanzania’s Minister for Finance, Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar, said Africa’s infrastructure gap should be seen as an opportunity to unlock innovative financing and strengthen strategic partnerships.
He emphasized that the continent’s development agenda will depend on practical implementation rather than promises alone.

“The next decade must be defined not only by ambition but also by delivery,” Ambassador Omar said, stressing that sustainable economic growth requires stronger collaboration between governments, development partners, investors and the private sector.
The high-level forum has brought together African leaders, policymakers, financiers and business executives to discuss ways of mobilizing investment for infrastructure projects that support economic growth, improve regional connectivity and enhance sustainable development across the continent.
Participants are expected to explore innovative financing models and strengthen partnerships aimed at accelerating the implementation of critical infrastructure projects in sectors such as transport, energy, digital connectivity and logistics.
The Africa50 General Shareholders Meeting and the Infra for Africa Forum are seen as key platforms for advancing investment-driven solutions to Africa’s infrastructure challenges while promoting greater private sector participation in the continent’s long-term development.
