Sao Hill Forest Plantation has welcomed 18 new employees across various cadres as part of efforts to strengthen its workforce and improve the efficiency of operations across the plantation.

Receiving the new employees, Sao Hill Forest Plantation Chief Conservator PCO Tebby Yoramu urged them to maintain discipline, teamwork and readiness to work in different environments while learning from experienced staff already serving at the plantation.

Yoramu said the new employees have a responsibility to protect and strengthen the institution’s public image by observing public service ethics and carrying out their duties professionally.

“Each of you should be ready to learn and work in any environment. We want to build and promote our institution through positive achievements, and everyone has a responsibility to protect its image as we work towards our institutional and national goals,” Yoramu said.

He also emphasised the importance of working closely with existing employees and communities surrounding the plantation, saying strong cooperation would be essential to effective implementation of their responsibilities.

Yoramu further reminded the new staff to comply with public service laws, regulations and procedures, as well as the regulations governing the conservation service, stressing that discipline should remain a permanent part of their professional lives.

“Discipline should not be temporary, but part of your entire life in public service. Follow the laws, regulations and procedures, work with your colleagues and use this opportunity to build your present and future,” he said.

Meanwhile, SCO Peter Nyahende, Assistant Chief Conservator responsible for Markets and Utilisation, introduced the new employees to the structure and operations of Sao Hill Forest Plantation, including its activities and how different teams are expected to work together.

Nyahende also encouraged the employees to establish effective workplace communication, describing communication and cooperation as essential foundations for creating a productive working environment and addressing challenges as they arise.

He urged them to first understand the environment in which they would be working, build good relationships with colleagues and learn the appropriate channels for raising both professional and personal challenges.

The arrival of the 18 new employees is expected to increase Sao Hill Forest Plantation’s capacity to carry out its responsibilities in forest management, conservation and sustainable development.

The development also highlights the importance of strengthening human resources in Tanzania’s forestry sector, where skilled and disciplined personnel remain central to protecting forest resources while supporting economic activities linked to sustainable forest utilisation.
