A 30-year-old woman has appeared before the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Kisutu in Dar es Salaam after being charged with eight counts of human trafficking in a case that prosecutors have classified under Tanzania’s economic sabotage laws.
The accused, Janeth Ndimbo, a resident of Sinza Mori in Dar es Salaam, was brought before Principal Resident Magistrate Aaron Lyamuya on August 4, 2026, where the charges were formally read in court. The prosecution was led by Senior State Attorney Harbert Kamugisha.
According to the prosecution, Ndimbo is accused of recruiting and facilitating the movement of individuals by allegedly promising them employment opportunities outside Tanzania. Prosecutors claim that she persuaded one of the complainants, Mina Ntengule, to accept an offer of work abroad before arranging her travel through Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) to Guangzhou, China, on August 1, 2024.
The prosecution alleges that the recruitment was carried out under the pretext of securing overseas employment, an act that forms part of the human trafficking charges now before the court.
Court documents further state that Ndimbo is also accused of approaching another complainant, Ana Bernard Gabriel, in the Sinza area of Dar es Salaam. Prosecutors allege that she similarly promised Gabriel employment opportunities abroad as part of the same alleged trafficking operation.

The case was presented before the court as an economic sabotage matter, meaning the accused was not required to enter a plea during the initial court appearance. Under Tanzanian law, certain offences classified as economic sabotage are handled through special legal procedures before proceeding to trial.
No defence submissions were made during the hearing, and the court scheduled the matter for further legal proceedings on a later date.
The case remains under judicial consideration, and the allegations against the accused have not yet been proven in court. She is presumed innocent unless and until the charges are established through the legal process.
