A Chinese factory owner has been found dead inside the premises of his industrial facility in Mabibo Sokoni, Ubungo District, Dar es Salaam, in a case that has shocked workers and triggered a full-scale police investigation.

The deceased, identified as Bhaozang Ge, 50, owned the XIL LI factory, a plastic processing plant that employs hundreds of local workers and operates within one of Tanzania’s busiest industrial zones.

Authorities say the businessman had been living within the factory compound alongside another Chinese employee and private security guards responsible for protecting the site.

Concerns were first raised early on May 16, 2026, when security personnel reportedly failed to open the factory gates at the usual time. Repeated phone calls made by workers to the owner went unanswered, prompting growing unease among staff members who had begun arriving for the morning shift.

As confusion spread, employees entered the premises and immediately noticed something unusual: the factory was unusually silent, with no early-morning operations taking place. Inside the compound, the owner’s phone could reportedly be heard ringing inside his room, but there was no response.

The situation escalated into panic when workers began a search of the premises and discovered blood stains near an area close to the factory’s grinding machines. His body was later found in a drainage trench within the industrial compound, confirming fears that something violent had taken place.

Police in Dar es Salaam have confirmed that investigations are underway, stating that early findings suggest the incident may be linked to individuals among the private security personnel assigned to the factory.

The case has raised serious concerns among workers and residents in the surrounding industrial area, where many foreign-owned factories operate with on-site accommodation for managers and security teams.

Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the motive or the circumstances leading up to the incident, as forensic teams continue to examine the scene and interview workers and security staff.

The tragedy has left employees deeply shaken, with normal operations at the factory suspended as investigations continue.

Police have urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculation as they work to establish the exact sequence of events that led to the death of the factory owner inside his own industrial compound.
