The United States military says it has destroyed more than 30 Iranian naval vessels since the beginning of the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, marking a significant escalation in maritime operations across the Middle East.
According to senior military officials, the naval strikes have targeted a range of Iranian vessels believed to be supporting military operations in regional waters. Among the ships reportedly hit was a drone-support vessel that caught fire after being struck during recent operations. Military authorities say the actions are part of a broader campaign aimed at weakening Iran’s military capabilities and limiting its ability to conduct further attacks.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, U.S. Admiral Brad Cooper, who oversees American military operations in the region as head of United States Central Command, said the naval campaign has had a significant impact on the battlefield. He noted that Iranian ballistic missile attacks have dropped dramatically since the early days of the conflict.
According to Cooper, missile launches from Iran have declined by nearly 90 percent compared to the first day of the war. He said the reduction suggests that recent military operations have disrupted Iran’s capacity to coordinate and sustain large-scale attacks.
Military analysts say the drop in missile activity could be linked to the destruction of key military infrastructure and logistical support systems. Naval strikes, air operations, and cyber activities are believed to have targeted supply routes, command centers, and weapons platforms used by Iranian forces.
The conflict has intensified tensions across the region, with global powers closely monitoring developments. The Middle East has long been a strategic hub for energy routes and military alliances, making any large-scale confrontation a matter of international concern.
Experts point out that naval warfare has become a central element of the conflict, particularly because control of sea routes plays a crucial role in both military logistics and global trade. The Persian Gulf and surrounding waters are among the world’s most important maritime corridors for oil transportation, and any disruption can have ripple effects across international markets.

Officials say American and allied forces are continuing to conduct surveillance and defensive operations to ensure the safety of shipping lanes and to prevent further escalation at sea. The destruction of Iranian naval assets is also seen as part of a broader effort to reduce Iran’s ability to deploy unmanned systems and missile platforms from sea-based positions. Drone ships and mobile launch systems have become increasingly important tools in modern warfare, allowing forces to operate from flexible and difficult-to-detect locations.
Security experts warn, however, that despite the reduction in missile attacks, the conflict remains highly volatile. Iran retains significant military resources and could still respond through alternative strategies, including proxy forces or asymmetric tactics.
Diplomatic efforts to ease tensions have so far shown little progress, as both sides continue to exchange warnings and maintain a heavy military presence across the region. International organizations and several governments have urged restraint, warning that a prolonged conflict could destabilize the wider Middle East.
