Catholic Priest Released After Months In Captivity

The Catholic Church in Nigeria has confirmed the safe release of Father Bobbo Paschal, who was abducted in November 2025, bringing relief and renewed hope to the faithful in Kaduna and beyond. According to the Chancellor of the Kaduna Archdiocese, Father Paschal regained his freedom on January 17 after spending nearly two months in captivity.

Father Paschal was kidnapped from his home in Kushe Gugdu by armed men on November 17, 2025, an incident that sent shockwaves through the local community and created widespread fear among residents. The abduction highlighted the persistent security challenges faced by religious leaders in parts of Nigeria and underscored the vulnerability of clergy working in high-risk regions.

The Archdiocese expressed its gratitude to security agencies whose efforts helped secure the priest’s release. It also thanked Nigerians across the country who offered prayers, support, and encouragement during the ordeal. “We are deeply grateful for the solidarity of our communities and the prayers of the faithful, which contributed to Father Paschal’s safe return,” a statement from the Archdiocese read.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso of Kaduna urged Catholics to remain steadfast in their faith. He encouraged continued prayers for those who remain in captivity and emphasized the need for unity and vigilance within communities. The Archbishop also called on all believers to support security measures while maintaining hope and trust in God.
