The Tanzania Police Force, in coordination with other national security agencies, has reassured citizens that they are committed to safeguarding lives and property across the country.
Authorities emphasized that their goal is to ensure residents can continue their daily activities in peace, stability, and security.
The statement, issued today, 10 December 2025, by the Police Spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) David Misime, also warned against attempts to organize public demonstrations. These warnings follow plans by some groups to hold protests today, after a previous attempt on 9 December 2025 failed to take place.
“Police continue to remind, advise, and caution the public against participating in unauthorized demonstrations,” DCP Misime said. “These so-called unlimited peaceful protests were prohibited because they did not meet the legal requirements set out in the Constitution and under national law, including the Police and Auxiliary Police Act (Chapter 322).”
Authorities clarified that anyone attempting to violate the law with the intention of disrupting national security or halting economic and social activities will face strict enforcement measures. The police urged citizens to continue their routines and follow guidance provided by security personnel, underscoring that cooperation with the authorities is vital for maintaining public order.

The advisory comes amid heightened concerns over political tensions in Tanzania following disputed elections and ongoing discussions around civic rights and public gatherings. Observers note that the police’s firm stance reflects both a commitment to public safety and the government’s intent to prevent actions that could threaten social and economic stability.
DCP Misime encouraged the public to remain calm and assured Tanzanians that law enforcement agencies are fully prepared to respond to any incidents that may arise. He stressed that the police aim to protect citizens, promote peaceful coexistence, and maintain the smooth functioning of daily life.
The Tanzanian government has previously emphasized that all demonstrations and public gatherings must comply with existing legal frameworks. Citizens are reminded that peaceful assembly is a right, but it must be exercised responsibly and within the limits set by law. This ensures that both safety and freedom of expression are upheld in tandem, preventing potential disruptions to the community and the economy.
