President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to meet elders from Dar es Salaam on Tuesday in what regional authorities describe as an important moment for strengthening unity and reaffirming national stability.

The gathering will take place at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre, a symbolic venue associated with Tanzania’s founding leadership and tradition of national dialogue.

The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, announced the development on Monday during a briefing with journalists. He said the region has continued to return to full calm, and the President’s engagement with elders comes at a time when the government is working to consolidate peace and encourage public trust.

“Because our region is steadily returning to its peaceful state, Her Excellency the President will speak with the elders of Dar es Salaam. During this discussion, she will also address the nation. I urge residents of Dar es Salaam and all Tanzanians to follow her message,” Chalamila said.

Chalamila described the event as part of an ongoing national effort to rebuild confidence and promote reconciliation, adding that the President will be accompanied by a wide range of leaders from both the public and private sectors. He noted that the conversation is intended to allow space for reflection on recent challenges while setting a positive path forward.

“This is a significant step that the President is taking to ensure our country continues to heal. She will be joined by leaders who are not government officials as well as those who serve in public roles. It is the right moment to help mend areas where citizens felt distress,” he explained.

The Regional Commissioner also used the occasion to encourage residents to continue cooperating with security agencies stationed across the city. He said law enforcement bodies are actively working to maintain order and protect communities, and public participation is essential.

“Our region is enhancing its security operations. When you see security agencies in your neighborhoods, please cooperate with them. If you notice groups of people whose intentions are unclear, share the information with local authorities. Anyone displaying signs of disturbing the peace must be reported,” Chalamila urged.

Authorities say the meeting between the President and elders serves not only as a gesture of engagement but also as a reaffirmation of shared national values. The government believes that strengthening dialogue at community level is vital for sustaining long-term harmony, especially in a diverse and rapidly growing city like Dar es Salaam.

As preparations for the meeting continue, residents have been encouraged to follow the proceedings closely. Officials say the President’s remarks are expected to clarify national priorities, address public concerns, and reassure citizens of ongoing efforts to safeguard stability and unity throughout Tanzania.
