Tanzania’s ruling party has issued a firm reminder to newly appointed ministers and deputy ministers that their responsibility is heavy — and that the party will not hesitate to take action against any leader who falls short of expectations.

Speaking in Dodoma on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, the Secretary for Ideology, Publicity and Training, Kenan Kihongosi, said the appointments made by President Samia Suluhu Hassan come with a clear mandate: to deliver results, uphold discipline and serve the nation with integrity.

Kihongosi emphasized that even though many of the leaders are new, they must treat their roles with seriousness and understand the weight of the trust placed in them. He underscored that the President expects productivity, professionalism and leadership that respects the dignity of every Tanzanian.

“The Chama Cha Mapinduzi expects ministers and deputy ministers to work with professionalism and ensure they do not fail the President. While some may be excited about their appointments, they must keep in mind that the President does not entertain complacency. She wants work, results and excellence,” he said.

He added that the ruling party will not tolerate negligence in a government mandated to implement its election manifesto. According to him, those who have been entrusted with leadership positions must give priority to citizens’ welfare and national interests.

“The party will not hesitate to take disciplinary measures against any leader who displays laxity. Those appointed must go and genuinely serve the people,” Kihongosi stressed.

Reiterating the party’s long-standing legacy, he said the ruling party has walked a historic journey with the nation and has no intention of allowing the country’s progress to suffer due to poor leadership or failure to perform. He encouraged citizens to remain calm and trust that the party will continue safeguarding national stability and accountability.

“Our party has come a long way with Tanzanians and has a deep history. It will not allow things to fall apart under any circumstance. Any leader who fails to fulfil their duties will face consequences. We ask citizens to remain calm and continue having faith in us,” he said.

The remarks come shortly after President Samia Suluhu Hassan reshuffled her cabinet, a move widely seen as part of her ongoing push for accountability and performance-based leadership. Analysts note that the ruling party’s firm tone signals growing expectations for ministries to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
