Tanzania is set to honor outstanding contributors to conservation and tourism at the Serengeti Awards, scheduled for December 19, 2025, in Arusha.
The announcement was made by Dr. Hassan Abbasi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, during the World Tourism Day celebrations on September 27, 2025, at the Ngorongoro Crater.
According to Dr. Abbasi, the awards aim to recognize, celebrate, and highlight the achievements of individuals, organizations, and institutions that have contributed significantly to Tanzania’s tourism and conservation sectors. “These awards are a platform to acknowledge those driving innovation, excellence, and sustainable practices in our industry,” he said.
A total of 56 awards will be presented across seven categories. They include recognition of tourism operators who demonstrate high standards in service and innovation, tour guides excelling in safari, mountaineering, and cultural experiences, and institutions or individuals leading efforts in natural resource conservation. Awards will also honor outstanding hotels, restaurants, and organizations that showcase the country’s attractions at national and international events. Additionally, public voting will help identify individuals who are widely recognized for their contributions to conservation and tourism.
