Four major Tanzanian government agencies have agreed to form a joint executive committee aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and boosting government revenue collection efforts.

The historic agreement was reached during a meeting held at the headquarters of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) in Dar es Salaam, chaired by the TRA Commissioner General. The Commissioner emphasized that increased cooperation and information sharing among the institutions are essential to achieving better results.

The collaboration involves key institutions responsible for conservation and tourism, including the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), and the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA).

By establishing a joint executive committee, these bodies plan to improve coordination in areas such as tax administration, natural resource management, and wildlife conservation. The goal is to streamline operations, enhance revenue collection, and protect Tanzania’s rich biodiversity.

The Commissioner General noted that sharing critical data and intelligence will help combat challenges like tax evasion, illegal trade in wildlife products, and other forms of economic leakage that negatively impact government income and national development.

Tanzania’s abundant wildlife tourism sector, driven by renowned sites such as the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater, depends heavily on effective management and protection supported by adequate funding. The new partnership aims to ensure that revenues from these sectors contribute fully to the country’s economy.

Experts believe this initiative aligns with global best practices for integrated resource management and revenue governance, as seen in other countries that balance environmental conservation with fiscal responsibility.

Ultimately, the joint executive committee will play a crucial role in enhancing transparency, accountability, and sustainable economic growth, supporting Tanzania’s broader Vision 2025 goals.
