The construction of the new Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation headquarters in Mtumba, part of Dodoma, Tanzania’s administrative capital, is approaching finalization, with approximately 90 percent of the project now complete.
This milestone was confirmed during an official inspection visit by Dennis Londo (MP), the Deputy Minister responsible for East African Affairs, who visited the site to evaluate the progress firsthand.
Hon. Londo praised the pace and quality of the construction, urging the contractors to stay on course and deliver the facility by its scheduled completion date in June 2025. “We are satisfied with the progress so far and encourage the team to maintain both speed and quality,” he said during discussions with the project manager, Ms. Ensi Japhet.
The project, valued at TZS 22.9 billion, began in January 2022 and is fully funded by the Government of Tanzania. It aims to provide a permanent base for the Ministry in Mtumba Government Town, aligning with the broader national policy to centralize key government institutions in Dodoma.
Deputy Minister Londo was accompanied by Kawina Kawina, the Ministry’s Assistant Director of Administration, and Uyoub Kingunde, an advisor from the Ministry. During their visit, they were briefed on project timelines, resource coordination, and infrastructure goals.

Once completed, the building will offer modern facilities to support the Ministry’s mandate in managing Tanzania’s international relations and fostering regional integration through the East African Community. It will also improve service delivery and create a centralized location for diplomatic and administrative operations.
The Ministry’s relocation is part of a long-term government strategy to enhance institutional efficiency and encourage balanced development across regions. Dodoma’s transformation into a full administrative capital is a cornerstone of this vision, with new infrastructure such as this Foreign Affairs complex forming a key pillar.
This new headquarters not only strengthens Tanzania’s foreign policy infrastructure but also signals the country’s commitment to sustainable development and regional cooperation.
