Billionaire Saidi Lugumi  revealed today that he is currently supporting more than 800 orphans from various parts of Dar es Salaam, providing them with essentials such as food, clothing, shelter, education, and healthcare.

Lugumi stated that his efforts are driven by a divine calling from God.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, Lugumi shared these details during a gathering with the children in Msufini Street, Kinondoni District.

The event featured prayers, a special recitation session, and a communal meal that he had organized for them.

Lugumi also announced plans to improve the living conditions of these children by constructing six multi-story buildings, with an ultimate goal of completing eight such structures in various parts of the city.

One of these buildings is nearing completion in Msufini, where today’s event was held.

“This is their home (the building under construction). There are six similar buildings, but we started here because this one is almost finished. We will eat with them here, and they are happy to see their place.

Each center is planned to accommodate no more than 100 children. For example, this building will only house 100 children, and as God continues to bless me, I will keep adding more.

So far, we have rented three houses and bought another, but it’s still not enough,” Lugumi said.

He also called on fellow businesspeople and stakeholders to join efforts in supporting government initiatives to assist orphans and children living in vulnerable conditions, noting that the number of such children in Dar es Salaam is still significant.
