Oman-Tanzania Business Forum Boosts Economic Cooperation

Tanzania and Oman exchanged insights on economic opportunities and tackled strategies to overcome investment challenges between the two nations.

The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) organized the Oman-Tanzania Business Forum, which took place from September 26 to 27, 2024, at the Sheraton Hotel in Muscat, Oman.

The event provided a platform to explore and enhance business and investment partnerships between the two countries, with particular emphasis on sectors such as construction, real estate, food security, mining, energy, transport, and logistics.

Dr. Saada Mkuya Salum, Minister of State in the President’s Office for Finance and Planning of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, led the Tanzanian delegation. Participants engaged in discussions about investment opportunities and challenges, aiming to improve the business environment and identify mutually beneficial ventures. Representatives from both Tanzania and Oman exchanged insights on economic opportunities and tackled strategies to overcome investment challenges between the two nations.

A significant outcome of the forum was the signing of seven memoranda of understanding across various sectors, including construction, real estate, agriculture, information and communications technology (ICT), renewable energy, investment services, and consultations. This demonstrated a commitment to fostering bilateral economic growth and cooperation

The forum’s success showcased the dedication of both countries to creating sustainable business networks and investment opportunities, thus laying a foundation for future economic development. It attracted key figures such as Tanzania’s Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Stanislaus Haroon Nyongo, Zanzibar’s Minister of Labor, Economy, and Investment, Sharif Ali Sharif, and TIC Board of Directors Member Peter Daudi Chisawillo.
