The Minister of State in the President’s Office for Public Service Management and Good Governance, George Simbachawene, has announced that a total of 201,707 teachers are set to undergo interviews from January 14 to February 24, 2025.
The recruitment aims to fill 14,648 positions recently announced by the government to address the shortage of teachers nationwide.
Speaking at a press briefing in Dodoma on January 11, 2024, Simbachawene explained the collaborative efforts in organizing the interviews.
“From January 14 to February 24, 2025, the recruitment interviews for the teaching cadre will be conducted by the President’s Office, Public Service Recruitment Secretariat, in collaboration with the President’s Office (Public Service Management), the President’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government), the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Health, the Teachers’ Service Commission, regional offices, and experts from various public institutions,” Simbachawene stated.

He further emphasized the government’s commitment to reducing the teacher shortage by filling 14,648 positions allocated by the President. “I urge all those invited for the interviews to prepare thoroughly, as these positions are highly competitive,” he said.
“In addition, given the current educational needs, we will also recruit vocational specialists. I encourage all successful candidates to commit to advancing their skills to meet the demands of their public service roles,” Simbachawene added.
To reduce travel costs for candidates, Simbachawene noted that interviews will be conducted in the regions where each applicant resides.
“The Recruitment Secretariat advised all candidates to update their information on the Employment Portal, particularly under the section marked ‘current physical address.’ We have allocated interview centers based on the addresses provided,” he explained.
The minister also urged all applicants to ensure they report to their designated interview centers, as all necessary arrangements will be made at those locations.
Additionally, the preliminary selection phase for teaching positions will involve handwritten tests across all levels of education and teaching cadres.
