Ukrainian President VoloZelensky left the White House early Friday, forgoing a planned news conference. Zelensky has earlier agreed to sign the mineral deal that was going to bring the war to end. Unfortunately things got get heated up with President Trump and his Vice Vance abruptly ending the meeting.
“You’re either going to make a deal or we’re out,” Trump told Zelenskyy.
Shortly after the meeting concluded, Trump issued a statement on social media that appeared to indicate the U.S. was withdrawing from negotiations with Ukraine and effectively sent Zelenskyy out of the White House. Ultimately, no agreement was reached.
“I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for peace if America is involved,” Trump wrote. “He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for peace.”

European officials rallied around Zelensky on Friday night as several lawmakers and diplomats expressed shock and dismay. There was no immediate reaction from E.U. headquarters in Brussels, but Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk posted a message of solidarity with Zelensky: “dear Ukrainian friends, you are not alone.”
The combative exchange sparked shock and outrage across the political spectrum in the United Kingdom. This incident followed closely on the heels of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s own meeting with Trump, which had initially fostered optimistic sentiments about strengthening U.S.-U.K. relations and support for Ukraine.
Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats Party, condemned the actions of Trump and Vance as “thuggery,” asserting that they were bullying the courageous Zelenskyy into accepting a deal that would effectively hand victory to Russia. “Unless the UK and Europe step up, we are facing a betrayal of Ukraine,” he warned.
There was no immediate response from the prime minister’s office, and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who has maintained a friendly rapport with Trump while being a strong advocate for Zelenskyy, also refrained from commenting publicly at that moment.
