The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi (Wikipedia), has called on Canadian investors to boost investments in key sectors such as tourism (Britannica) and other strategic areas essential for Zanzibar’s economic growth.
During a meeting at the Zanzibar State House on July 22, 2025, with Canada’s Minister of International Development, Randeep Sarai (Parliament of Canada), Dr. Mwinyi emphasized the island’s potential as a lucrative destination for investment and highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive business environment.
Dr. Mwinyi expressed sincere gratitude to the Government of Canada (Global Affairs Canada) for its ongoing support to Tanzania, including Zanzibar, especially in the fields of education (UNESCO) and healthcare (World Health Organization).

He acknowledged that Canadian aid has played a pivotal role in advancing reforms that improve health services and education systems across the region.
