Tanzania is set to experience a combination of sunshine, cloud cover, rain showers and isolated thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, as shifting weather systems continue to influence conditions across much of the country.

Forecasts indicate that several regions will see cloudy skies broken by sunny intervals, while others may experience brief but intense rainfall. Weather specialists say the pattern reflects seasonal atmospheric changes that often bring unstable conditions, particularly during transitional periods.

Southern and western regions, including parts of Lindi, Mtwara, Rukwa, Katavi and Kigoma, are expected to experience cloudy conditions with thunderstorms developing in some areas. Similar weather is anticipated in Zanzibar’s Unguja and Pemba islands, as well as inland regions such as Ruvuma, Tabora, Singida and Dodoma, where sunshine is likely to alternate with scattered showers.

Coastal areas and neighbouring regions, including Dar es Salaam, Tanga and Morogoro, are forecast to have partly cloudy skies with occasional rainfall. Northern highland regions such as Arusha, Kilimanjaro and Manyara are expected to remain relatively stable, although light rain may occur in isolated locations.

Weather officials have cautioned that short periods of heavy rainfall could occur in parts of Kigoma, Katavi, Rukwa, Songwe and Mbeya. Residents in these areas are advised to remain alert, particularly in flood-prone zones and areas with poor drainage.

Experts note that such rainfall events, though short-lived, can cause disruption to transport, agriculture and daily activities. According to climate analysts, the increasing frequency of sudden downpours is closely linked to extreme weather patterns being observed across many parts of the world.

Temperatures across major towns are expected to remain warm, with daytime highs ranging from the mid-20s to low-30s degrees Celsius. Coastal cities are likely to experience warmer nights, while inland and highland areas may remain cooler during early morning hours.

Along the coastline, winds are forecast to blow from the south and southeast at moderate speeds, reaching up to 30 kilometres per hour in some areas. Sea conditions are expected to be slightly to moderately rough, prompting caution among small boat operators and fishing communities.

Weather experts say these conditions are consistent with seasonal trends studied under meteorology and advise the public to regularly follow official updates, especially as weather systems continue to evolve.

As Tanzania and the wider East Africa region face growing climate variability, authorities emphasize the importance of preparedness and timely information to reduce weather-related risks.

Residents are encouraged to plan their activities carefully, stay informed through official channels and take necessary precautions during periods of heavy rain or strong winds.
