Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Health, Dr. Godwin Mollel, has urged nurses across the country to remain dedicated, ethical, and innovative as they continue to play a critical role in the national healthcare system.
Speaking during International Nurses Day, celebrated every May 12, Dr. Mollel addressed a gathering in Iringa, where this year’s national commemorations were held. “Nursing is not just a job; it is a calling. It requires honesty, integrity, and a heart full of compassion,” said Dr. Mollel.
He reminded nurses of the critical role they play in society and called for continued professionalism and respect for patients, regardless of their status or background.
Dr. Mollel also highlighted the growing importance of innovation in healthcare, particularly in regions with limited resources. He encouraged nurses to be proactive in finding creative ways to improve healthcare delivery.
“Our nurses must lead in thinking outside the box. The world is evolving fast, and so must we. By using our knowledge and experience wisely, we can overcome challenges and improve healthcare access across Tanzania,” he added.
