The Tanzanian People’s Defence Force (TPDF) and the United States military have successfully concluded the Justified Accord 2025 joint training exercise, marking another milestone in the two nations’ military cooperation.
The closing ceremony, held in Msata, Coast Region, brought together senior leaders from the U.S. Embassy in Tanzania, the TPDF, and the Nebraska National Guard of the U.S. Army.
This year’s Justified Accord, one of the largest military exercises in East Africa, involved approximately 1,300 personnel from over 15 countries. The training, held in various locations including Kenya, Djibouti, and Tanzania, focused on preparing military forces to respond effectively to regional security threats, humanitarian crises, and peacekeeping missions.
In Tanzania, the exercise emphasized peacekeeping operations, medical evacuation drills, and Special Forces training. These drills were designed to improve coordination between Tanzanian and U.S. forces, ensuring both sides are better equipped to respond to emergencies. One key aspect of this year’s event was the deployment of the East African Response Force (EARF), which worked closely with TPDF units to sharpen skills in crisis response and disaster management.
Beyond military drills, the training also included humanitarian efforts. U.S. and Kenyan military medical teams provided essential healthcare services to local communities, continuing a tradition of medical outreach that has benefited hundreds of people in past exercises.

Officials from both countries praised the exercise for enhancing cooperation, building trust, and preparing their forces for future challenges.
With the exercise now concluded, participants reflect on the lessons learned and the strengthened bonds between nations. The experience gained will help improve future collaborations, ensuring that both Tanzanian and U.S. military personnel are well-prepared to respond to emerging security challenges in East Africa and beyond.
