The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) has released the results of the primary school leaving exams and the Form Two mock exams, revealing a notable improvement in overall performance.
According to the council, the results show a significant increase in the pass rate for both sets of exams compared to previous years, indicating positive trends in the quality of education across the country.
The announcement was made following a comprehensive evaluation of the exams, which were conducted in late 2024. NECTA’s spokesperson highlighted that these results reflect not only the efforts of students and teachers but also the effectiveness of the government’s education policies.
While the overall pass rate for the primary school exam showed a clear upward trajectory, the Form Two mock exam results were equally encouraging, with a marked improvement in the number of students achieving high grades.
In a statement, NECTA expressed satisfaction with the progress being made in both primary and secondary education, noting that the enhanced performance would have a positive impact on the country’s educational system as a whole.

Education officials have also attributed the rise in exam performance to various reforms implemented in recent years, including the introduction of more structured learning curricula and better access to learning resources.
The improvement in these results is expected to boost morale among students and educators, as well as to inspire further investments in education to ensure that the gains made are sustained. The government has promised to continue supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing the educational system, particularly in rural areas, where challenges such as inadequate infrastructure and a lack of qualified teachers still persist.
As the government looks to build on these successes, it is also focusing on addressing the remaining challenges in the education sector, with a particular emphasis on improving the quality of education at all levels.
With the positive results from these exams, Tanzania is set to continue its educational reforms, striving towards even greater achievements in the years to come.
